Are you wondering what locations would make epic girl’s getaway ideas? Well, here is the article for you! Listed below are some of my favorite girl trips to date!
Las Vegas
I will have to admit…I never had a burning desire to go to Las Vegas. I have zero knowledge or skill when it comes to gambling. I can barely manage to work a slot machine. Despite my poor gambling skills, we decided to do a girls trip there in 2017. At the time, the Backstreet Boys had a residence and the Magic Mike Live show had just opened. That trip completely changed my perspective of Sin City! Vegas has amazing shows, exquisite food, an insane nightlife, and plenty of activities to keep you entertained…even if you don’t gamble!
We love to stay at the Aria. It’s conveniently located in the middle of the strip, it has GORGEOUS rooms/amenities, and you can take the tram to the Bellagio or the Park MGM from the Shops at Crystals, which are conveniently attached to the hotel. There are also plenty of luxury shopping options here if you are interested.
You can walk over to the Cosmopolitan for brunch at the Wicked Spoon. The food is amazing and you can also enjoy bottomless champagne, Bloody Marys, Mimosas, or bud light for $24! (2 hour limit)
Enjoy dinner at Hell’s Kitchen or Tao. If you decide on Tao, catch a gondola ride through the gorgeous Venetian canals that mimic real life Venice.
Night life – catch a Cirque Du Soleil show like my personal favorite the Michael Jackson show.
Catch a resident Vegas performance. We saw Backstreet Boys and it was a total fan girl moment.
Hit up a night club like Jewel. There are tons of club promotors in Vegas that will let girl groups skip the lines and have private tables to encourage attendance. We saw Jamie Fox here one night! It is also conveniently located in the Aria.
If you’re a thrill seeker, you can jump off the top of the Stratosphere. I highly recommend it! It was so much fun!
You also can’t go to Vegas without watching the famous Bellagio water show. It’s beautiful every single time. (I do always find myself thinking of Ocean’s Eleven when I watch it.)
New York
What’s more fun for a girl’s weekend than the city that never sleeps? New York has something fun to do in all seasons. We love to stay in Times Square for convenience and we like to utilize the subway system or walking for transportation.
Food – We generally enjoy a quick breakfast and lunch. Bagels for breakfast and the occasional street cart food for lunch.
For dinner try out Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House near the Rockefeller plaza or Buddakan for a sensational Asian meal. For dessert, try grabbing a frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity 3 or grabbing a cheesecake from Juniors!
We grabbed our cheesecake to go and soaked our feet in Epsom salt in the bathtub during our first trip. We walked over 40 miles in one weekend! Our dogs were barking!
Catch a Broadway show. My personal favorite is the Lion King.
Jimmy Fallon is also a great show to catch! Tickets are free, but you must snag them in advance. They sell out quickly upon release.
Visit the typical tourist sites like Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, and 911 Memorial and Museum.
If you happen to go at Christmas, you can’t miss the Rockettes or seeing the tree at Rockefeller plaza!
San Francisco
We stayed in a cute boutique hotel downtown. We walked and took the trolley for transportation in San Francisco.
Grab lunch at the Fisherman’s Wharf or dessert at the original Ghirardelli’s.
Take an iconic picture with the Golden Gate bridge in the background.
Visit Alcatraz and take a self-guided audio tour.
Rent a car and hit up Muir Wood and Napa Valley.
We visited Castella di Amorosa and took a tour and did a tasting.
When we visited San Francisco, we also took a car down the Pacific Coast Highway (gorgeous), and on to LA, which is the next place on my list.
Los Angeles
I will admit that LA is not a destination that I desire to visit again, BUT it was really cool to see once.
We stayed in an air bnb downtown. The only thing I have to say about that is, it was a little scary. I would not do it again.
There is no simple way to walk to get to your destination in LA. The public transportation system is also a little sketchy. We tried to take a bus one day, and our bus was attacked by someone that ripped the wiper off and kept beating the side and windows with an umbrella. They forced us all off the bus, and we had to wait for another bus while the driver waited on the police to arrive. Needless to say, we took an Uber the rest of our trip.
Spend the day at the Santa Monica Pier
Catch a glimpse of the famous Hollywood sign
Take a Beverly Hills tour and shop on Rodeo Drive.
Take a studio tour. We took a Sony and a Warner Brothers tour. This was so much fun!
We got to see the set of Pretty Little Liars and Gilmore Girls. We also got to stand at the Jeopardy podiums and sit on the Friends couch!
Charleston
There are 3 main location options. Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and downtown Charleston.
I prefer staying in Folly for the close proximity to the beach, ability to walk to restaurants, and a fun night life.
For breakfast, there is an amazing food truck called Juice Joint that serves acai bowls.
Hit up Lost Dog Café for brunch and taste the most amazing Crab cake benedict you could ever experience!
For dinner, I will always always recommend making the trip downtown and eating at Halls Chophouse. It is my absolute favorite restaurant. (Coming in second is Wise Guys in HHI which is next on the list).
If you prefer to stay close to your room, Rita’s also has phenomenal food.
At night, the restaurants turn into quite the fun nightlife. The Irish Pub is a great time. The first floor has a live DJ and they also have karaoke nights. The second floor turns into a dance club-ish scene.
I also HIGHLY recommend dressing as grannies when you go. (Seriously, BEST bachelorette party idea.)
Hilton Head
We love to stay in the South Forest Beach area. You can generally find super affordable accommodations right on the beach.
Coligny Plaza is a short walk and offers shops and food options, including some pretty tasty icecream.
Coligny is also the home of Frosty Frog. You can get frozen daiquiris here and even get them to go!
Rent bikes during your stay and ride along the bike paths and along the beach.
Visit Sea Pines/Harbourtown and the Salty Dog Café.
Grab dinner at Wise Guys (my second favorite restaurant) or head on out to Skullcreek Boathouse. There is generally live music here and it’s a fun place to spend the evening. It’s typically a long wait for a table, but it’s such a fun atmosphere that you won’t even mind.
Nashville
I have stayed at several places in Nashville, from large Air Bnbs near the airport to save money, to hotels downtown. I prefer staying downtown for the convenience of walking and not having to take a cab.
Broadway – what more can I say.
You can’t go wrong anywhere on Broadway. You will have fun in any bar you wander into. Tootsies, the Big Bang, and the Stage are classic places to visit. The Stage has to be my favorite. They always have top notch performers playing there.
Big Bang is a dueling piano bar and has a super fun atmosphere.
For breakfast or brunch, try Biscuit Love or Another Broken Egg Cafe
For dinner, Kayne Prime offers some mouth-watering Waygu steak.
5th and Taylor also offers an amazing selection of entrees and I still dream about the quail leg appetizer there. *drool*
Grab dessert from Legendairy milkshakes
